Goals

Happy Fourth of July!
It is not about aimless wandering. What good is getting up and leaving everything behind if there’s no purpose to it?
Below are a set of goals which I created for myself. I already know that I want to become a vagabond, but this is what I’d like to find along the way. Like any company or entity, I need a statement of purpose to guide both myself and this blog.
These are the types of topics you can expect to see here.
A man who leaves home to mend himself and others is a philosopher; but he who goes from country to country, blinded by his blind impulse of curiosity, is a vagabond.
Oliver Goldsmith
Vagabonding Goals
- Stay in each country just long enough to learn the language/culture and be accepted
It’s easy to get comfortable in a place or with a routine, but that’s what I’m trying to escape by embarking on this trip. The goal, instead, is to make friends and learn – and then move on. To always be pushing myself. - Never say “no”
I want to experience everything. If money or basic sanity does not preclude something, it must be done. - Find balance: improve body, mind, and spirit equally
Sometimes improving your body means a strict gym regiment. Sometimes it means hiking the Cinque Terre. In any case, the goal is a balanced life as a vagabond.
Eschewing Obfuscation
I’ll be the first to admit it: these goals are pretty vague. They will translate to me posting about things like “how I study” and “what my gym routine is.” More importantly, I will show you the results of each of these activities and how to reproduce (and improve) on my successes (and failures).

One, if it's The Weakonomist I've thoroughly enjoyed all the interviews I've been fortunate enough to do with my fellow personal finance bloggers, but my conversation with the Weakonomist is one that could easily have spilled over into two, simply because the Weakonomist has so much to say about the world of finance and economics......
